Learning for all round development has been evolved. In this respect Henry Unwin from the UK, the first volunteer played an important role. Our syllabus comprises subjects such as English language, numbers, nursery rhymes, stories, sensory development, manipulative skills, song and dance, creative arts and crafts, social awareness and good habits, gardening and Nepali language. Learning through play and experiences is practiced.
Two innovate subjects have been introduced. The first is a Nature walk – which introduces the child to, flora, agriculture, farm animals, birds, the family and community, respect for elders, homesteads, farm implements, pets, colours and numbers- All with a focus on English words, and disciplined conduct.
The second is a Confidence course. This comprises various obstacles and a sand pit; to build self confidence, agility, balance, strength, and coordination; whilst removing fear of heights and darkness. The child learns to run, jump, climb, crawl, and balance- all the time there is opportunity to increase the English vocabulary, of the children. In addition the child learns numbers and colours, team work, leadership and follower-ship.
Standards to be achieved have been listed for all subjects and a detailed check list has been evolved to help the teacher to assess the progress in the all round development of the child.
Funds were provided by General Jimmy Singh for building Infrastructure. Lantern project from USA provided class room furniture. The family providing the land retains ownership of the land and buildings have been donated to them.
